Went to try and see Purple Emperor, came away with Dark Crimson Underwing, Dusky Sallow & a Sulphur Pearl. All new for me...no Emperor mind, but no need to mention that.

More from the
@greenwingstours.bsky.social
tour to the Italian Alps where, today, we had an extreme form of female Spotted Fritillary that had a steely-blue sheen to its wings; a hybrid between Adonis and Chalk Hill Blues, known as polonus; and a cleodoxa form of High Brown Fritillary. What a place!

Another in an occasional series of videos, where wildlife doesn't do much. This time featuring a slightly annoyed Lesser-stag Beetle, who objected to me trying to move him from the road

This is unbelievably and horribly shocking. 280 million acres = 1.13 million square kilometres, which is: 11.5% of the USA 33% of USA's forest cover 64-91% of USAβs national forest + protected public land area (exact figure depending on how much protected public land is also national forest)
add a skeleton here at some point

Exactly what you would expect to see underground. From Beer Quarry Caves, Devon. Made in the C15th for a local church, this window was removed by the C19th and returned to the place where the stone originally came from in the 1930s.
