The day job has been very full on this semester & this was the end of a very intensive block course looking at family & community health in NZ with a cohort of great health professionals from a range of disciplines - it’s a good feeling when months of planning comes together in a course. #academic

Update on my #WW1 nurse death certs research - almost finished downloading, I do a bunch squeezed in around regular academic and home stuff. Some have been challenging to find even though army records give date & location of death in NZ - I’m not reading any until I’ve got them all!

The next event at the Christchurch nurse’s memorial chapel museum- a slot by yours truly in the mix - free do pop in if you are in town & our WW2 display will still be out

Finally have be granted a small amount of research funds to close the loop in my #HistNursing research to obtain death certificates on the 100 or so WW1 nurses who died prematurely post service to connect dots between service, illness and death. #NZANS #research #nursinghistory

A bit of family history- this is my dad 14yr in 1944 In wartime Devon. He went from boys home to work in service aged 14, he was the ‘boy’ in a grand house- his jobs included lighting the fires, shining shoes, stirring the clotted cream & helping the garden. Lady Northcote let him in her library

Managed to find a live link in Europe to Anzac Day Dawn Service in Wellington this evening- have never missed 1 in the last 30 or so years apart from pandemic and child birth - the headstone brought from Gallipoli 25 years ago for Tomb of Unknown soldier. We will remember them #AnzacDay2025 🇳🇿🇦🇺

Today I visited a small, interesting museum in Eksjö in Sweden. Interesting display on the sanitorium Fun fact this town is Sweden’s best remaining example of wooden houses dating from 1500-1800. In addition to interesting military history display there was a stunning display of wooden coat hangers🤔
