Talked about my research today, gave the latest update to interested people. Some nice little gifts as well, a soldier in the Swedish "Landstormen", was a specific force in the SWE territorial defence in early 1900s, model showing the uniform from 1910. Thank you @Forsvarsutb Norra Småland. 🙏

One of the most wonderful things within my research is when I receive additional photos from the relatives which makes the story about who the soldiers were much deeper. It looks like he was a proud Swede who sacrificed his life for the Canadian troops. May Bertil Albert Lindh rest in peace. 🙏

#568 Swedish born soldier who fought and fell in WW1. Einar Skud (Ejnar Eliasson Skud) born Jan 27, 1892, in Mosaic church, Gothenburg, Sweden. Emigrated to US in 1911. Went to France in July 1918, Died of wounds Oct 7th, 1918. fought for 337th Inf Regt, 85th Div, buried at Meuse-Argonne Cemetery.

1)Soon Christmas here in Sweden, but still using some of my time off from work to go through different archives. Just looked into the fate of the Swedish born soldier Emil Lund (Anders Emil), who belonged to 29th Canadian Forestry Company. Emil sadly committed suicide ->

1)At least 540 Swedish born soldiers fell at the Western Front in WW1. This is what I have found so far, it may be more of them. 343 of them fought for the American Expeditionary Forces. The majority of them are buried and commemorated in Belgium and France, but 43 of them are buried back in the US>

Over 500. I decided to extend beyond my limitation in my research, not only cover those Swedish born soldiers who are buried and commemorated on the Western Front. I am now adding those who and are buried in other countries as well. It will be interesting to look into their fates. More to come.

🇸🇪🇺🇸It moves me a lot emotionally when walking along the sites where the Swedish American soldiers fell in WW1, and visiting the places where they are buried. Finding facts in the archives making the story more detailed. I visited Carl's latest resting place last week. May he rest in peace 🙏

🇸🇪🇩🇪Among many sites today, we visited Consenvoye German Military Cemetery to commemorate the Swede, Lt Fredrik Malmsten, who fought on the German side in 1916. He fought for Hill 304, and died on May 5th, 1916. He was born in Malmö, Sweden, 1893, and joined the German Army in 1915.

🇸🇪🇺🇲 It will not be included on my tour 2025, but we took the little tour today, when in the area. This is a real gem! Sergeant York Trail! Very interesting story with informative signs along the trail. Don't miss this on your next visit to the argonne region.

🇸🇪🇺🇲Just in time to watch the afternoon flag ceremony at Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, and at the same time commemorating some of the Swedish soldiers buried there. Now heading back to Chateau Thierry for the night. Heading east to the Meuse-Argonne and Somme Py area tomorrow.

🇸🇪🇺🇲 The Recce has begun, first out the area of Belleau Wood and Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, to visit the Swedish born soldiers buried there. Next stop is Oise-Aisne American Cemetery.

🇸🇪🇺🇲Need any photos from the Battlefields? During next week I will head down to the Battlefields of France, and especially follow in the footsteps of the Swedes who fought for American Expeditionary Forces. Belleau Wood, Cemeteries like Aisne-Marne, Oise-Aisne, Meuse Argonne, St Mihiel etc.

Continuing to look up the background and history of those Swedish connected soldiers who were a part of the AEF unit often called "Lost Battalion" who experienced their hard situation in the Argonne Woods during 2-7 of October 1918. Some of them didn't make it. Here is my updated list.

🇸🇪🇺🇸Gustave A Munson belonged to the "Lost Battalion" but survived. He was injured in his right hand. Not born in SWE, but born by SWE parents in Etter, Minnesota. Munson from his father´s surname Johan August Magnusson who emigrated from Säby, Jönköping county, Sweden, 1868->

1)🇸🇪🇺🇸 Searching in WW1 archives from North Dakota. 28000 N. Dakotans participated in the War, 609 (2,1%) were born in SWE. 474 N. Dakotans Killed in the War (1,6%). 9 of them SWE born (1,8%). One of them was Gust A Oberg (Gustaf Amandus Åberg) born in Nybro. (St Mihiel Am Cem)->

In order to find more information of the original burials of those Swedes who fell for AEF in WW1, I found more interesting facts about the US born Swen Henry Winberg, born by SWE parents in Pike, Ill, US. Born in Sept 1892, he visited SWE between Oct 1893 to Sept 1894.->

We really had a great day at the Blekinge Museum archive, where I got the opportunity to touch the words of the Swedish Lieutenant Marcus Grundberg, in his letters from the WW1 western front trenches, on the German side, writing about the "Tommies" on the other side. Really emotional. 🙏

Evening saved at the Hallbergs place. Tried to find someone with a Viaplay account, it turned out we had it in the house, my son's account 😁😂 We now have a @dr_wendym_RN on speed! 😁#allblacks #swedishguythefixer

I do as I use to do, spending some overtime in some travel hub. UK won't let me go on normal time, as usual. 😊 Small adventures all the time. Will hopefully open my home door before midnight, but you never know. Still happy though, after a great weekend with @GreatWarGroup 😊👍
