In a horrifying article about the dangers of Teslas, one point stands out: Teslas automatically disengage self-driving mode <1 second before an imminent crash--not enough time for the driver to react, but enough for Tesla to deny responsibility for fatal crashes, since self-driving "wasn't engaged."

I fully concur that the biggest news of the day is the announcement of Jamie's forthcoming book about his unlikely penguin obsession. I would recommend purely on the basis of his past writing. But I've had the privilege of previewing a few of the chapters and it is going to be superb.

Flying back to the Antipodes to finish the Big Project. Appropriately it'll include a visit to the Antipodes Islands, a far flung subantarctic group that Churchill's government once requested to use for nuclear testing. They got a knock back, which saved a penguin species from extinction-by-nuke.
