Today my students have been listening to blue man group, oingo boingo, throbbing gristle, Cradle of filth, and gentle giant. they didn't choose any of it and they didn't enjoy a moment of it, but it's my workshop and really what other reason is there to work at a university than to be annoying.

I feel this is true for so much of the uk cultural sector. Unless you're born into wealth, you have to wait and hope your scene gets institutionalised within your lifetime. And then you risk being treated as a done deal, forever locked away in a V&A archive box that deprives your art of agency.

Every advert I see now is for some stupid AI service. Not even the AI themselves, but AI recruitment or accounting or pictures of yourself that look nothing like you. I hate adverts at the best of times but jesus fuck the saturation of slop generators trying to find a non existent market is painful.

I'm finally caught up with casting. In the process I got confused why no one ever buys my little spiky turtles, then realised I never actually put them on the mammoth webstore. So yeah...expect turtles soon.

My current hate of the moment is the autogenerated AI results on google when I search for something made up. It says "oh, that's not a real thing, that combo of things never existed..." and like I KNOW THAT YOU ELECTRIC DULLARD! I AM TRYING TO SEE IF OTHERS HAVE IMAGINED THE SAME THING AS ME!

I've been putting a little setting art book together for a while and have finally started with some of the illustrations. Renewing my DBS with HR. They need paperwork to prove who I am and are baffled that I get all my statements digitally. They ask if i have any letters from my employer like a payslip or a P60. They ask if I could get one. To do that I have to email HR. No wonder this university is broke.

I enjoy emailing HR at my day job because it's the one time I can get rid of all the niceties of digital correspondence. I'm about one week away from just "K THX"ing every email they send me. The thrill of not saying hello or thankyou in an email to HR is my own personal heroin.

I played a small game of "in the land of the sundering flood" to celebrate entering the fulfilment stage of the kickstarter. Victrix models. Sir Godrick and Osbourne the red lad were slain by a band of skinners as they attempted to cross a stream at the edge of the woods masterless.
