If you ever wondered what it’s like parkrunning with me and Dr Veg, this morning we almost tripped each other over because we got distracted trying to count cormorants on the lake

Dr Veg and I did parkrun together this morning for the first time in a few weeks. We ran most of it together, having a chat and spotting wildlife. He then zoomed off in the last kilometre and beat me by 30 seconds.

Today was one of those days when it was hard to get out of the door to go for a run, but as soon as I started I remembered that I do it because I enjoy it

I normally go for a little walk after work on Friday evening to stop me falling asleep, but my namesake storm has put a literal dampener on that so it’s time for knitting with a cat on my lap and a massive cup of tea

This is very VERY true. Now imagine a whole life being undiagnosed and thinking it’s something in your character and NOT knowing it’s
#ADHD
Imagine all the work it takes to undo that. I’ve done that work. I’ve done that work with and for others as a counsellor. It’s SO important

It’s a beautiful morning for parkrun. I ran on my own today with a good podcast for company, and I had a nice chat with another Vegan Runner after. My favourite start to the weekend.

I was meant to do the Great North Run this time last year but I had pneumonia which later caused a blood clot in my leg. I’ve still got a way to go before I’ll be able to do another half marathon, but watching everyone on TV run it today I’m feeling hopeful.

The last couple of weeks we’ve got into a new Saturday morning routine. First parkrun, then home for a coffee and cat time in the conservatory. I’m not sure it’s going to be warm enough to sit out here for many more weeks, so we’re making the most of it.

We had a lovely time at parkrun, Dr Veg is getting the hang of pacing himself and managed to beat me by almost 20 seconds this time. We saw swans, two cormorants, about a million geese, and maybe 20 coots.

My husband did his third ever parkrun this morning. He needed quite a bit of encouragement to keep going, but as soon as he saw the finish line he zoomed off into the distance and beat me by a good 10 seconds. Sickening 😆

All I have left of the 1000s of books I bought from my ex-publisher's warehouse are about 200 copies of Ring The Hill. I'd *love* to get them to good homes this week. If you're in the UK & you'd like one, for the price of your choice (any price!), pls email me your address at

Unpopular opinion, but anyone who eats bacon/pork should at the very least click the links and see what animals go through to get to your table.
