When the intent of a ruling oppressive power is to starve the body and soul of its people so they can't fight back, you have to find ways to fuel the fire. It's why resistance and underground art is historically so important. But you have to not just make art, but make space for others to do it.

Thinking a lot these last few months about how Anathema and FIYAH both launched in 2017. FIYAH's still going and Anathema's relaunching this year under a new masthead. (Been on hiatus a bit.) Making art under a fascist regime can feel impossible. Can feel unimportant. But it keeps the spirit alive.
