I honestly respect the hell out of Nioh 2. It's like Team Ninja said "We absolutely don't have the narrative sauce to make a world as compelling as FromSoft." To make sure they didn't embarrass themselves by even trying, they chose Borderlands as their other chief inspiration.

Extremely good and hot "unknowable alien kaiju x DEEPLY autistic pilot" horror-almost-romance. Not that I've read a TON, but it's also definitely the hottest oviposition scene I've ever read! If I have a "criticism," it's that Lark's characters are just so good I want MORE. Hoping for an epilogue!

Only 48 hours since I got glasses, so it may be too early to tell, but I am very cognizant that I've had some degree of headache every ~3 days for the past two years and so far I haven't had even a whiff since Monday. Okay well apparently I liked it enough to go back and work on beating Nioh 2. They sniped my ass by offering a demon snake helmet for beating the demo boss within a certain window. I am such a sucker for both the snake thing AND ALSO beating my head against challenges within arbitrary limitations.😔

Another thing working in game dev has taught me: I need to scope creep MORE. I've been a fixer and the Voice of Reason for coming on eight years now and it seems I've reached the point where my bosses need to tell me it's okay to think bigger and do weirder. Obviously that's not the case for most.

Grad student seeks career counseling and is told she should really just switch her research track to "practical sex work." It's MUCH more lucrative and everyone agrees she'd be better at it anyway. Nioh 3 is definitely interesting... Not sure if I'm jiving with the new open-world structure, but I can see the idea of taking the almost Metroid-like exploration elements from the previous two games and make it a much bigger focus (e.g. you explore, you get stronger in meaningful ways).

Nothing has opened my eyes to the value of my own profession like working with a large team and seeing just how many people fucking HATE reading or writing so much as a Slack message. People will record a 20-minute video of themselves explaining something rather than engage with two lines of text.

Fuck, I think I got over my post-burnout writer's block so hard that literally all I want to be doing now is writing. I'm still waiting on beta reads on Roses Under Glass Chapter 2, and I've got a million games to play and books to read while I take a break, but I just want to *write*.
