Oh right, I forgot to mention what I actually ended up playing. It's Elin, a Roguelike inspired by Elona, inspired by ADOM. It's a fun little part-town builder, part-dungeon delver in which you pay taxes and get into slap-fights with Hermit Crabs. It's a lot of fun, and it's worth trying ^^
