On Friday, I co-chaired the 3rd EU–Colombia Dialogue on Drugs with the Minister of Justice, Augusto Alfonso Ocampo Camacho, with the participation of Pedro Arnulfo Sánchez, Minister of Defence, and Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Thank you to the Port of Santa Marta for hosting me today. This key gateway in northern Colombia is at the front line of efforts to fight drug trafficking into international markets, including Europe.

As we prepare the EU Drugs Strategy, I’m in Bogotá visiting the Anti-Narcotics Target Selection Company of Colombia’s National Police — a specialized unit identifying and prioritising high-value targets in narcotics trafficking.

Today, I had the opportunity to present the OECD’s International Migration Outlook. Thank you, @oecd-ocde.bsky.social, for inviting me to deliver the opening remarks at the launch in Brussels.

After yesterday’s successful EU-Western Balkans Ministerial Forum, I continued my constructive dialogue today with Deputy Minister Bošnjak in Sarajevo.

Thank you, Chairwoman, for the excellent cooperation and commitment to our shared security.   The last time we met, we signed the Frontex agreement. Today, we discussed the progress that has already happened and the launch of Joint Operation Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Thank you, Deputy Minister Bosnjak, for the warm welcome to Sarajevo for the EU–Western Balkans Ministerial Forum on Justice and Home Affairs.

On the margins of the Forum, I held productive bilateral meetings with Ministers Stoklund, Šaranović, and Dačić. The EU values its strong cooperation with Montenegro and Serbia on internal security and in curbing illegal migratory flows.

Today I had the honor of being granted an audience with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. I was grateful for the opportunity to discuss the well-being of Christians in Europe and around the world.

Today in Rome, at the International Meeting for Peace, I spoke about our European approach to migration management and the need for a common European system to meet this shared challenge.

At the Parliament Palace, I was honoured to meet representatives of the European Affairs and Defence Committees from the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. We exchanged views on the EU’s internal security policies and Romania’s key role in shaping them.

After my meeting with Prime Minister Bolojan, I had the opportunity to meet with President Nicușor Dan. We discussed Romania’s vital role in Europe’s security architecture. Together, we will continue working for a prosperous, competitive, and secure future for the European Union.

This morning in Bucharest, I met with Prime Minister Bolojan. We discussed protecting the EU from hybrid threats - from disinformation to drone incursions. To support Romania, the EU will launch the Democracy Shield this year and the European Drone Defence Initiative next year.

Today, I was welcomed by Minister of Interior, Rihards Kozlovskis, to walk along the Latvian-Belarussian border. Accompanied by Minister Kozlovskis, I had the chance to thank the Latvian border guards at the closed Silene border crossing point for protecting our common EU borders.

I met with @PICUM_ today to discuss the protection of migrants from exploitation, the prevention of illegal employment and ensuring a level playing field in Europe’s labour market.

Today, we signed international agreements to exchange Passenger Name Record data with our counterparts from Norway and Iceland, which handle about 60 million passengers that arrive and depart from airports every year.

Today marks a historic milestone for Europe. All 29 Schengen countries have successfully launched the Entry/Exit System — the digital backbone of EU border management system.

Today I visited CEPOL’s new headquarters in Budapest. The agency plays a key role in ensuring that EU law enforcement officers are well-trained to meet evolving security challenges. Joint trainings are central to delivering on our ProtectEU, our new internal security strategy.

Today, I am in Budapest, where I participated in a Sukkot celebration with Andor Grósz, the President of the Federation of Hungarian Jewish communities. Together we paid tribute to the victims of the Holocaust.

No speech, and no words of condolences can ever take away the pain of the Hamas attacks on October 7, two years ago today, and of the many violent crimes that have happened since then. Manchester, Boulder, Washington D.C. We will never forget the courageous souls that were taken from us.

Following the Munich Migration Meeting yesterday, I visited the newly re-opened and beautifully restored Synagogue on Reichenbachstrasse.

I strongly condemn the attack on the Manchester Synagogue on the holiest day for Jewish communites, Yom Kippur. Such atrocious acts of hate have no place in our societies and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

Today I was invited to open Europol’s Cybercrime Annual Conference. Cybercrime knows no borders - criminals exploit encryption & new tech, while data becomes a key battleground. We must mainstream security across EU policy, strengthen Europol’s mandate & ensure lawful access to data.

This year’s UNGA took place amidst shifting global relationships. My biggest takeaway is that in regions around the world, the EU is being sought after as a reliable partner. We must step up our global engagement to answer this call.

At the UNGA, I signed with Foreign Minister Sommerfeld an agreement to boost cooperation against organised crime and terrorism. It strengthens Europol’s ability to exchange data with Ecuador - building on joint work that already led to the seizure of 73 tons of drugs and 36 arrests in March.

After constructive meetings in Washington, I arrived in New York to participate in and hold many bilateral talks alongside the UN General Assembly.

Before heading to New York for the UNGA, I made a stop in Washington D.C. to meet key partners in our transatlantic cooperation.

Thank you to the Grand Committee of the Finnish Parliament for inviting me to discuss Finnish priorities for internal security and border management. I also met with the Director of the Hybrid Center of Excellence to discuss emerging security challenges.

At the invitation of Minister Mari Rantanen, I visited Finland’s eastern border with Russia today. Thank you to the Finnish authorities for your efforts to protect over 1,300 km of our common EU external border.

Today’s Salzburg Forum was an excellent opportunity to discuss key priorities with Central European ministers. The implementation of the Pact on Asylum and Migration has progressed rapidly, and all countries confirmed they are ready for the progressive start of the Entry/Exit system on October 12.

I am deeply concerned by the cancellation of the Münchner Philharmoniker and Lahav Shani at the Ghent Festival. I have asked the EU Coordinator on combating antisemitism to engage with the authorities and the festival organisers to ensure that this cannot happen again.
