The US House passed its budget reconciliation package early this morning on a 215-214 vote with only Republicans supporting the measure–including cuts from Medicaid and other social services programs—potentially resulting in the loss of federal support for hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans.

Hundreds rallied at the Minnesota Capitol on Monday to celebrate transgender visibility, praising Minnesota’s protections for trans people while confronting the Trump administration’s hostility toward trans Americans.

Last week, HF 12–a ban on the full participation of trans athletes–failed to pass the House. This week, lawmakers are bringing forward another harmful bill, HF 1233. This bill seeks to create an exemption to the Minnesota Human Rights Act allowing for discrimination in athletics.

Today, Minnesotans showed up. HF 12 - a bill seeking to limit the full participation of trans kids in sports - failed to secure the 68 votes needed and did not pass in the Minnesota House. It’s a win for all of us who believe in inclusion! Thank you to everyone who showed up today!

Last night, in response to my lawsuit, a federal judge blocked Trump's illegal Executive Orders targeting gender-affirming care from taking effect in MN. It is unlawful and immoral for Trump to use the federal government to target trans kids just trying to be themselves. I will not stand for it.

A transgender sports ban, HF 12, is moving to the floor of the Minnesota House on Monday, March 3rd. At a time when LGBTQ+ communities are being targeted for exclusion at a federal and state level, it is important that we as Minnesotans stand up for our shared values of welcome and inclusion.

Today, the MN house public safety committee held a hearing on HF 435, a bill seeking to restrict the housing of trans inmates. The bill was not voted on, but was laid over for later consideration. While this bill may again to come up in discussion, we do not expect it will become law this session.
