I went to a birthday party this evening but showed up pretty late after running a call to reset a half dozen motor drivers. Power hiccup. I was there just ~15min when either guests or some unrelated patrons got into a fight. Police with tasers out shut it all down minutes later. No cake was cut. 😔

I feel a bit guilty. Last weekend I went to the Earth Day event in the park and even with my hat and bag of new, experimental field equipment both carrying our brand when I made it to the same organization's tables I was very circumspect about working with them. It may even have been some lying.

One piece I recall: the bomb was located once, but as it was being raised to the surface the Alvin pilot warned the surface operators they were pulling it up too fast. The warnings were ignored, the bomb became detached, sank, and was lost a second time. The sub pilot "went crazy" when he surfaced.

In 1965, my father was a naval officer on the USS Lindenwald, which transported the Alvin and Aluminaut back to the U.S. after they had located the missing H-bomb on the ocean floor off the coast of Palomares, Spain. Dad saved a handful of mud scooped off the side of the bomb after it was recovered.
