In other parts of its range, the Mountain Hare (Lepus timidus) typically turns white in the winter. However, the Irish subspecies (L. timidus hibernicus) stays brown all year round! Our only native lagomorph, the Irish Hare is widespread in Ireland, and found in habitats such as bogs and grasslands.

IPCC's national Hop To It Frog Survey received its first frogspawn record of the season on December 27th. Though highest numbers of frogspawn sightings generally occur in February and March, do keep an eye out in January! You can submit sightings here:
