Scrambling through the heather, this female Raft spider is carrying her precious egg sac. She carries it for about three weeks, and when she feels they are close to emerging, she lays them gently down, build a small web around them and guards them until they emerge. Amazing spider!

The Furrow Orb Weaver builds orb shaped webs, feeding on small insects and are strictly nocturnal. They hide in crevices during the day. This little one found a sunny, cozy little spot within the blooming Furze at Turraun wetlands, Co. Offaly @claireissimo.bsky.social @peatlandecr.bsky.social
