Mostly here to riff on Original Series Star Trek.

Robert McCall was an illustrator for Life Magazine and other publications, but is best known for being NASAās primary artist for many years. He had a lifelong love of aviation and spaceflight, and the pre-production illustrations he made for Star Trek: The Motion Picture are marvelous.

Energy. When Ambassador Kollos, an incorporeal being, assumed Spockās physical form, he got to taste for a moment what it was like to be a creature of sensation. Nimoy was great in moments like this.

In The Trouble With Tribbles, Spock says it will take Cyrano Jones 17.9 years to clean up all the tribbles on the space station, which means he would've been finishing up just about in time to appear in the bar scene in Star Trek III... missed opportunity!

Star Trek had a long history with NASA and the aerospace industry. Everybody knows the story of the naming of the first Space Shuttle Enterprise after the tv starship, but even during the series a number of the cast and crew visited Edwards Air Force Base. Hereās a couple familiar faces!

Iām sad to hear of the passing of Gil Gerard. He did a wonderful job bringing some realism to a show that was at times campy and absurd. If Buck Rogers were made today, they would hire some 23-year-old with six pack abs and an angsty disposition. Gil was perfect!

I love old interviews like this, before Star Trek became hugely popular. What strikes me is that Shatner and Nimoy are both very thoughtful, but not about the same thing. Shatner is more attentive to his *performance*; Nimoy is more attentive to his *character*⦠1/
