I’ve never really been a podcast kind of person, but I’d like to be. Does anyone have any recommendations for good podcasts that get you excited?

When a writer’s conference sends you a demanding list of things they want you to do while only offering a pittance for the work, my answer is always going to be no, especially as a BIPOC agent. Agents and other faculty deserve to be paid fairly for their work at conferences.

I’m going to need publishing to ramp up buying again because me and one of my cats are having dental emergencies this month. Paying for it all feels impossible. 🥺

Lately, I’ve been having quite a few querying writers cross professional boundaries in order to jump the queue. Please do not try to send things to my home address, my personal email, or go through colleagues that I know. It’s scary, invasive, and will result in an automatic no.

One thing that makes me really sad about publishing is when marginalized authors receive messages from young readers about being able to identify with a character and story for the first time, but it means absolutely nothing to a publisher for next books if sales numbers aren’t high enough. 😔

I’m so torn on whether I should clean out my closet or do something fun this weekend. I desperately need to reorganize my closet and get rid of old clothes, but also, who wants to spend their long weekend doing that? 😭

Friend told me about the most recent ridiculous publishing discourse on that other app, and I’m so glad I don’t go there anymore. Some people really need to stop projecting on agents and go outside and touch grass. 😮‍💨

Whenever you get a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store, just know your cats will always get their fair share. I live with big time spoiled brats. 😼😸

It’s hard figuring out if I’m becoming a slower reader/editor because: 1) I’m getting old? 2) If it’s just a side effect of covid? 3) Or maybe it’s both? It doesn’t make this job easier either way.

Sometimes the only joy I feel is when I can give my cat tummy scritches.

I’ve restarted my Korean skincare routine again after spending months of being lazy, and I can never get over the difference when I actually do put in the effort. As a geriatric millennial, I should definitely not slack on this. 🫠

Still thinking about how earlier this year there was an article telling people to save money by not eating breakfast, & then there was one stating that death is an option to be free of student loans. This world really hates poor people and won’t acknowledge the disease that late stage capitalism is.

I’m proud of myself for getting rid of three of my streaming services to save money. I still have four left, but I don’t count Prime because it’s included in my Amazon membership.

I still can’t get over how much the price of eggs have increased this year. You go to the grocery store and just want a dozen eggs but then they’re like “that’ll be 1 million dollars!” 😭

How do you make new friends as a geriatric millennial? Everyone I know my age is married with kids. People have suggested taking a new hobby class, but I’m trying to save money. Others have suggested book clubs, but that’s too close to the job.

It’s always funny when one otaku recognizes another. My building maintenance guy came by to fix my smoke alarm, and he noticed I had One Piece streaming in the background so we ended up talking about anime for 20 mins after he fixed my alarm. lol
