Today marks 35 years since the day that @cwweir.bsky.social and I met. We’ve known each other longer than most of our students have been alive. Friends, then roommates, then together, then writing partners, then married. It’s been a great 35 years so far.

Hard to believe that Carrie Fisher has been gone for 7 years. Princess, writer, actor, inspiration, and caustic wit. She is, was, and always will be important to me. And the Force will be with her… always.

Andre Braugher in HOMICIDE was so good it defied logic. He blew me away, every week. And in BROOKLYN 99, he brought me to tears with laughter. Every week. Rest in Peace, Andre Braugher. There will never be another like you.

Finally got a chance to see Haunted Mansion & genuinely don’t know why it didn’t do well (though whoever picked the release date at Disney should be fired). This movie was delightful. Funny, with kid friendly scares, & some genuinely compelling emotional turns. I loved it.

Just saw The Marvels! It was comic book silly, in terms of story logic and psuedo-science. But like so many comics I read growing up, it is so much fun, so exciting, that I loved the silly aspect. And it was funny, emotional, and had some of the best action sequences in the MCU. Loved it.

Today @cwweir.bsky.com and I saw Taylor Swift’s concert movie because we didn’t get to see her on tour. A couple of thoughts… 1) She is a remarkable performer and that was an excellent experience. 2) DC needs to cast her as Black Canary immediately

Reading Keith Giffen’s work shaped me as a writer, helped shape my sense of humor, and helped define my understanding of superheroes in an era where so many others were breaking them down in ways that could make us all so jaded. He was a singular, vibrant, and talented voice. A true icon.

Ahsoka’s finale was wonderful. I do think the show (and the finale) rewards those who watched Clone Wars and Rebels, and wonder if those who didn’t had a more muted reaction. But for me…? Bliss.

23 years ago today, I married my writing partner, who was also one of my best friends. Best decision I ever made.
