Today, my work in Virginia's legislative session came to an abrupt end after our pro-solar bill died in Senate subcommittee. While we expected an uphill battle this session, our toughest battles were against Democrats. One Dem (McPike) voted against us, and one Dem abstained (Locke). Till next time.

Yesterday, after the service, I felt cathartic. I was able to be honest with myself in front of the crowd, and preach. It was (is) exhausting, and I still feel tired. I always feel tired. But today I feel despondent. She's still dead. And I doubt anyone walked away encouraged to be a better person.

Few people knew her and very few knew her well. Nurses, social workers, pharmacists, medical technicians and so on were part of her life, but she was our world. We thank them for treating her with dignity and respect. Forever in my heart, my baby girl. 🕊️

Yesterday was a bit chilly, windy and rainy. Though we got to hike Sleeping Bear Dunes. Next year, I’ll do the full loop. Today is my last full day, I travel back to my parents tomorrow. And though I’m sad to know I didn’t do everything I wanted, I’m happy to be here at all :).

The stress continues! Not only did we spend 6+ hours driving today, we dropped my father off at the airport 12:30 pm to find out his flight is at 7pm, not 2. To make things worse, his 7pm flight is now cancelled. And he has no phone. And he’s stranded at the airport…

Today’s two main events consist of my father dropping his phone while fishing at 4am and extended family taking hours to leave behind schedule. Despite the stressful hiccups (and angry late night phone calls from mother), we had a lovely day birdwatching and chasing sunsets.

The memorial service has concluded. Rest in peace Nana and Papa. I realize I never really gave myself the opportunity to grieve. I lost my grandfather during school, and my grandmother last August while I was working. Life went on. I should have seen them more. Called them. Loved them. I’m sorry.

For the next week, I’m staying at my old family’s cottage in upper Michigan for the memorial service of both my dad’s parents. I haven’t been up here in about 8 years, but despite the new changes surrounding town, I feel like I’ve lived here my whole life. I’ll be posting a lot the next few days.

May 4th, 2024. Students and community members gathered to protest against the University of Virginia's involvement in Israel’s war and genocide on Palestine. They demanded divestment, disclosure, and peace, but were met with riot shields, pepper spray, and brutality. Below, are my pictures.

At approximately 6PM today Swedish time, the love of my life, @kirisis.bsky.social, passed away. Thank you everyone for your support and all who were able to be here virtually during the worst day of my life. 😭 I will never forget you. The most amazing person. I will always love you.
