M101 – about 20 hours through my 12" RC / EQ8-R / Touptek 2600 mono camera (color data from an older shot). My main objective was to test different guiding settings. OAG guiding seems to be a pain in the *** at almost 2m focal length, especially under mediocre seeing conditions. #astrophotography

Oh. My. Wow. This image here, THIS STUNNING PHOTO, was taken by Blue Ghost on the Moon. Because while we saw a lunar eclipse on Earth, the Moon saw a solar eclipse at the same time. That's us, Earth, eclipsing the Sun. And it just gives me goosebumps to see like this!!

Among other things #astrophotography builds on patience and perseverance. A lot of it. Sometimes, I forget that. After months of collimating, testing, adjusting, waiting for clear skies, failing, nearly crying, trying again, giving up, and starting all over again, I finally got a decent result.

Not quite there yet, but getting somewhere. Collimation is okay-ish for my taste. Next step: a new imaging train with an e-filterwheel and larger OAG. Test shot: 6 hours on Messier 51. #astrophotography

after collimation (left) vs. before (right): not perfect yet, but clearly improved. A slight tilt is also noticeable. And I definitely need an OAG with a larger opening. Almost impossible to find 'something starshaped' for guiding. Gear: 12" truss Ritchey-Chrétien & Touptek 2600 mono

Grouping notifications together and delivering them during designated time slots is incredibely effective! Didn't know that was even possible... 😐 Much better focus and relaxation throughout the day. (Messenging apps like Signal or Whatsapp can be excluded)
