My dad just gave me a brand new MK9 special edition with the giant joystick. He says it’s been sitting in his house for years. I have no idea where it came from? Maybe I ordered it in 2011, never opened it, and forgot? Or won it for some tournament? Idk lol merry Christmas to me I guess.

In the 80’s my dad packed up my older sisters Atari 2600 and all her games and presented it to me as a Christmas gift. I was too young to understand it wasn’t new and thought it was the greatest thing ever. Who knew dad’s regifting scheme would become my life’s passion. 🤷‍♀️

I started Dispatch today with the intention of playing one episode a day but it’s so good I’m now on episode 4. I could keep going but I’ve got plans. This game rules.

I’ve wondered if Rayman 2 held up. I played it at the PS2 launch and never revisited it but I remember it being good and it’s highly regarded. I’m playing it now on NSO and have half the masks. The answer is…no. It’s whatever. 🤷‍♀️ ppl putting it up there with Banjo or Mario 64 are bonkers.

I have zero interest in multiplayer FPS but I adore the classic COD campaign and all the copies. Give me a 6 hour, linear, shooting gallery with the Michael Bay vibes and I’ll eat it up every single year. It’s like the McDonald’s of games and I love it. Been an annual comfort food for 20 years now.

can’t stop thinking about the terrible Vince Zampella news. What a bummer. MW 1 & 2 alone would have been a heck of a legacy, but Respawn was responsible for a bunch of great games too. Video games are such a relatively new art form it’s not often we lose such a powerhouse. Shocking.

I reached 100% completion on Absolum. Achieved the true ending with every character. I played 30 hours in a week lol. It’s a heck of a game. Lived up to its reputation and then some. If you liked SOR4 and other modern beat em ups but aren’t into roguelites consider giving this one a try.

'Kasumi Ninja' released on this day in 1994. The Atari Jaguar's premiere 2D fighter. Notable for its particularly unintuitive and unresponsive controls, baffling presentational / interface design decisions, and general shamelessness in chasing after 'Mortal Kombat's lead.

IDK why I still remember this, but I worked at Toys R Us in 2000 and we still had tons of copies of this SNES game for sale. We were selling brand new PS2 and Dreamcast games but randomly had a row of SFA2 and Donkey Kong Country 3 carts from 1996. It was fascinating. I never saw one get bought 🤷‍♀️

I think my winter break games are going to be the FF Tactics remaster, Dispatch, and Rayman 2 on NSO.

I demolished the true final boss in Absolum this morning before work and I’ve felt so brilliant and powerful all day.

Awesome! For Mortal Kombat sickos, note that this includes the Sega Channel version of MK3 for Genesis. This unique version was split in two, with each part having half the characters. There is little documentation and to my knowledge, no footage or way to play this until now. This is exciting!
