When you see this on oak, what would you think it was? These tiny round growths are galls, the homes of wasps in the genus (likely) Neuroterus. I love finding these on my hikes, those small signs of the hidden world around us.

Quite pleased with this shot of an Urosigalphus braconid wasp I got in central Austin today. I suspect the wasps are emerging from live oak acorns, having parasitized the grubs acorn weevils. Not many live photos exist of this genus, it seems.
