Loki scale casting my old friend! I have to make about 250 of these for my remake of the Dark World pants. Thankfully I’m just casting in thibra which is easy, just takes a lot of time. Halfway there! Then I gotta trim the edges (comparison in second pic), paint, and attach to the pants panels.

I think it's interesting that so many folks view any close or intense relationship between fictional characters where strong feelings are dramatized - either positive or negative - as inherently romantic. Head canons are cool, but ascribing intent to creators is when it can get uncomfortable.

A year ago today, I started camp Gale; and predictably, a year later, he is still not finished! I knew going in that this would be a long endeavour, and I haven’t given myself a deadline for finishing him. And honestly, it’s been wonderful to just work at my own pace and enjoy the journey.

While I love seeing textural #embroidery like this take shape on a hoop, placing it into the actual costume is even more magical! Both of these embroideries were originally done by Michele Carragher, for #RingsofPower and #GameofThrones, and I have replicated them as well as I can for my cosplays!

Oh heck yes 🙌 Scrollwork done on one Galadriel bracer! anyway this is your reminder that while partially automated tools like laser cutters and 3d printers can make it easier to do very crisp or smooth or detailed work, you don't NEED them to get nice results!

Super pleased with how the colour on the wool turned out! Greys are so tricky to dye because they read so differently depending on lighting or neighboring colours, but I’m very happy with this!

Really quite disheartening and disappointing to see the Tolkien Society hosting a discussion on “AI in fantasy filmmaking” this year at Oxonmoot. It feels about as morally and philosophically opposed to Tolkien’s work as a talk on the benefits of deforestation.

Once again slowly hitting my head against the wall because of this. Anytime I show what I’m testing or experimenting with I get unsolicited advice and it is actually maddening to have to explain that yes I thought of that and no it will not work for x reasons.

Multiple people have thanked me for being committed to masking this weekend and that just makes me feel good about it. I’d do it anyway—I’m keeping myself and my loved ones safe—but it’s nice to get some appreciation when it’s no longer (frustratingly) the norm. (It’s never too late to start)

I spent some time yesterday working on updated design ideas for my Vax’ildan costume! The plan is to have it wearable both with and without the armour, so I’m going to do a linen gambeson using the techniques I learned on Galadriel, but even More quilting!

This #Loki cape is one of my favourite things I’ve created! The concept art is ambiguous as to the material texture, so I decided to combine icelandic sheepskin with feathers! It’s a pelt that I dyed a mottled colour with alcohol inks, and then hand sewed various colour feathers to the leather skin.
