Continuing my #Ancestry rant - I had the most patronising copy/paste email response from them. No apology. No recognition that sending first degree relations this sort of hint may not be wise. Just appalling.

Can we talk about Ancestry "hints"? Email from them on Saturday saying there was a new hint about my dad! Logged on to be told the hint was his death notice. From 2023. Which I wrote. Bit different from being told about your gg granny. Tactless. Sh*t response from customer service. #genealogy

Also on this rubbish Ancestry update, what's with the "central Scotland" green bit running from the Solway Firth to Inverness? two thirds of the country? #genealogy

Ancestry's DNA origins update is the worst yet. A novice researcher looking at my results may think they will be spending 36% of their research in NE England as that's what the blue circle says. Except the blue circle also takes in Roxburghshire, Berwickshire and a bit of E Lothian too. #genealogy

What have they DONE to the National Records of Scotland website???? They've had an "update" and now all previous content is accessed through a clunky, archived site. All links from places like Scotland's People to research guides, registration district info broken. What a MESS. #genealogy

Well every day is a school day. I have just learned that this section of motorway - which I have driven hundreds of times - is straight because it was built on the old runway of RAF Renfrew which was decommissioned and demolished in the 60s to make way for the M8. Who knew. #history #glasgow

I do this every Christmas but maybe this will be the year. In 1946, Harry Rose-Innes sent my grandfather a Christmas card from Port Elizabeth, South Africa to Portadown, Northern Ireland. The two had been POWs together in Stalag IVB. I'd love to hear from any descendants or family of Harry. 🎄🎄🎄
