The Elf Owl is the smallest owl species in the world - here's one I photographed in April. These owls are very small and nocturnal, making getting a shot without artificial light very hard. We wanted to do better though - so we set our tripods up with remote shooting and waited. Here's the result. 🦉

This picture kind of sucks - but this is a Mexican Spotted Owl, an endangered species. This spring I ventured out to Arizona to find the last 5 owls remaining to complete my goal of photographing all 19 US species of owls. This was a very quiet and peaceful encounter - as it should be.

Sent out a couple photo pass requests for an artists I really like yesterday and haven’t heard back, but the one I’m not familiar with responded almost immediately. I’m going to feel out of place at a jazz club but hey maybe it’ll be really fun!

I've spent the past week or so sending emails, trying to make contacts, looking into press wire agencies and it's exhausting. I just want to be able to go take pictures. The nice thing about tornadoes is that they don't require permission or networking.

Hi everyone. The Onion, with the help of the Sandy Hook families, has purchased InfoWars. We are planning on making it a very funny, very stupid website. We have retained the services of some Onion and Clickhole Hall of Famers to pull this off. I can't wait to show you what we have cooked up.

Also, part of the reason we did bought InfoWars is because people on Bluesky told us it would be funny to buy InfoWars. And those people were right. This is the funniest thing that has ever happened.

Not trying to flood Bluesky with my political thoughts right now. Anyway, last week I had an opportunity I never thought I would have - to photograph a former President at a rally. I'm pretty happy with how I did.

I saw some nice storms and tornadoes this year, but an encounter with this rare Canada Lynx in northern Minnesota is still my favorite photo I have taken this year, maybe ever. Nature photography really did save me from just playing video games and doing nothing but working every day.

If the RDPS is to be believed, last night was probably my last night photographing comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS. The dark sky did wonders for this comet. I can't fathom how good it would have been with slightly better timing.

All I want is a media pass to photograph local events (political/concert/etc) and I’m struggling to find anyone that wants to work with me in Minnesota. Photographing every species of owl in the US(19!) and ~30 tornadoes doesn’t get ya as far as knowing the right people. So discouraging.

Still having trouble training myself to open this app when I have a few minutes to mindlessly scroll instead of the other one. Anyway here’s a picture I took that I like somewhere near Barney, ND.

When I first started chasing tornadoes and getting deeper into photography, growing my social media presence was important to me. With the continual decline of Twitter, it’s been easy to not care about it nearly as much anymore. I might start using this app a little more as it’s less exhausting.
