This is a stunning example of an Einstein ring. The bright, diffuse galaxy in the centre is closer to us—and it's so massive, it's bending spacetime itself, turning light from a far more distant galaxy behind it into a ring. It's bending the very fabric of the Universe.

The long and winding path of research "impact": five years ago, studying interstellar objects was funded by @royalsocietynz.bsky.social. Because of this, we now have a tool for measuring satellite industry effects on the night sky. You can't write a path for that

Today, ESA released a giant batch of survey data from the Euclid Telescope! Euclid has already spotted 26 million galaxies, & that was just in one week of observations 🤯 Here’s the Deep Field South view & an example of the galaxies being catalogued. Beautiful! Good at making you feel smol.
