If you're a nerd shopping for a WiFi device I found an excellent resource:
www.wiisfi.com
. (Wi Is Fi?) It's more detailed than you need, but I found their Recommendations section much more actionable than TheWireCutter saying "Buy one these three devices we tried 14 months ago, trust us."

Today our GitHub Actions runner provider had a big outage. I was able to migrate us back to GitHub Hosted Runners, then a couple hours later migrate again to
namespace.so
. A stunning example of the power of platform APIs and the competitive ecosystems they can enable.

It’s 2025, yet it’s impossible to attach a personal note/comment to music on Spotify. 45 years since the post-it note came on the market and how is it still peak technology in the game of “why the fuck did I save this?”

You know what you can’t do in 2025 A.D.? Type “shutdown” in the Windows start menu to shutdown — that searches bing. Because of course it does.

Twitter, where clicking a "calendar.google.com" link can lead "Google Calendar" getting complete access to your account. Voiceover: In fact, it was not a "calendar.google.com" link nor was it a "Google Calendar" app.

's open source contributors -- get fucked. If you won't put your name behind a project, maybe realize what you're doing isn't a "growth hack" it's something to ashamed of. Do. Better.

My first rust ACP (API Change Proposal) was closed -- with the best possible outcome. 🏡 🎉 I was proposing a new API to replace the broken on windows and long-deprecated env::home_dir. But instead the Windows implementation was fixed and env::home_dir will be officially undeprecated in Rust 1.87.0!

Regex of the day: Links from a Markdown file: ``` ggrep -oP '\[[^\]]+\]\([^)]+\)'
README.md
``` It requires GNU grep (`brew install grep` on macOS to get `ggrep`) as it uses -P (--perl-regexp) to get PCRE regex syntax and -o (--only-matching) prints matches instead of matching lines (the default).
Got an email with a bill for coinsurance for a Doctor’s visit ($126). The Mass General payment portal only accepts credit/debit cards. What a broken system where we let MC/VISA skim 3% on our health care expenses.
Yup. Microsoft automatically switched me to the $99.99/year version with Spicy Autocomplete. You have to go all the way through "cancel subscription" to be presented these options and get the $69.99/year one you actually chose.
Pour one out for the US Digital Service. This amazing team was founded during the Obama administration. They convinced some of the best and brightest minds in tech, to give up wealth and RSUs and free lattes, to dedicate their professional lives to service.♥️👍🏿 It just got renamed to DOGE.
