Twitter is down and I'll admit as a writer who uses it for a lot of research (it's getting better than Google in some ways) it feels like The Day The World Ended. But also I feel a small twinge of joy.

I think the biggest reason why it's hard to spend much time on this app is because it's impossible to have an actual CONVERSATION on this app. That was always possible on Twitter (and even remains so in an attenuated way) but is impossible here due to low volume and Panopticon Supervision. A shame.

The great thing about Bluesky is that all the people who blocked me long ago back on Twitter haven't blocked me yet here. I have the chance to stick in their craws all over again!

Will be fascinating to see if this takes off. If it does - if enough people I normally enjoy conversing with find their way over here once it goes live and Twitter remains unusable, then I'm done there.
