I was 15 when Digimon first came out. Just a *little* too old for it, but it wasn't impossible especially with PS1. But it never hit me. Looking in from the outside, the excitement for the new game is infectious. Then I look at it... Real question: why is this new game making people freak out?

Yep, and the push to make games faster/cheaper is only going to make the discoverability/time problem worse. Need more players to catch up, but post 2020-21 finding new players has been a massive challenge. They're all already playing.
