Important point: Archivists have no authority to 'reopen cases' of pension applications lodged a hundred years ago, nor do we conflate recognition and award of pension. An unsuccessful pension does not mean applicants were not there or are lying about their activities.

John MacBride, executed in May 1916 for his participation in the Rising is present in the collection through Maud Gonne’s claim for an allowance on behalf of her husband. The file contains a copy of a marriage certificate in the parish de St Honoré d’Eylau, Paris, where Seán MacBride was born. #MSPC

The @msp-archive.bsky.social is going from strength to strength. The end of the Decade of Centenaries has opened a new, exciting chapter. Loads to do, some invisible work and some very visible changes. Numerous projects, short and long term. It's a good time to do deep work.

Archival folders delivery day!! 6,000 X 4-flap archival folders for MSPA. We're a small team but we're going through 150 folders a week, easy.

Records and archives can be instruments of oppression and evidential objects leading to exoneration and restitution. Because they are powerful tools to judge corruption and wrongdoings, records need to be kept well during dark times. It is their way to speak truth to power.
