This took me years of being a published writer to understand: To the people who only know you by your work, you are like the blank screen at the front of a movie theater. You have your own physical reality, but they only see what's projected. They are talking and reacting to the light and shadow.

Vampire wip starting to take shape!!! I even have a title somehow????

Didn't get far in the read-through today, but the beginning of vultures wip is both in better and worse shape than I thought. As in - I'm going to get accused of slow pacing again, but I see where I'm going & once the reader does it's going to be so cool.

(another one for fun feat. Vultures wip) this is more of a horror adjacent tale, but the romance paths involve choosing your better nature vs clinging to a version of yourself that never existed no matter how much you crave that transformation. It's been so convoluted & fun. 🤭

Tldr people can be really really weird about romance in books so if it seems like a deeply specific, personal complaint I tend to ignore it. I do remember the funny ones though. 💀

Oh lol after a comfort/pampering romantic scene in ASftR a reader was super offended at how nice Merrion was to Larkspur & called it heteronormative for some reason??? (they put this info in a discord chat they knew I was in among other complaints). fellas is it gay to be sweet to your girlfriend 💀

Obligatory books mentioned -

Gwendoline/Niles were (for me) a love you can choose over what is supposedly "meant" for you + no traditional wedding or babies at the end. Larkspur/Merrion convey love that comforts, love that heals. Cosima/Iulia (+Konetta) = love can change over time, but when it's real you can always return 💜

i'm v happy w/ how the main couple in "besieger" turned out. are they horrible ppl individually & is it an ill omen if they show up at your house? yes but they'll look great while drinking your blood or soft resetting your memories. plus they're obsessed w/ each other even after 900 years 🥺🥹🖤
