A recent playtest had a player tell me "This is the most fun I have ever had playing one of your games" and I don't know how to take that.

Got in what might be the third ever playtest of my game Acolytes. A co-operative 2 player “I split, you choose” game. I was originally planning to retheme the game, but the players got so into the theme and it honestly seemed to fit how they were feeling so guess I WONT be doing that.

Spirit Island continues to be one of my all time favorite co-ops. Nothing beats playing as an angry ocean that moves like the tides.

Got some people that don’t know each other coming over to play board games. I think trying to blow each other up with some Thunder Road Vendetta is a good way to get to know each other.

Can someone help me find this game? I am looking for the name of the abstract strategy game of pushing/rolling dice on a grid. The pieces roll or tumble into each grid space on the board. It is/was sold at Barnes & Noble for a good bit of time. I believe the pieces are turquoise and gold.

Its the night before heading off to Unpub, you know what that means... panicked last minute changes to the game I'm bringing!

Got to run two simultaneous quick playtests of a new co-op game idea. Think this is the first time I’ve been able to simulate one of my ideas with a deck of regular playing cards. Obviously this is nowhere near what the actual prototype will be, but it’s nice to see the idea works in theory.

I realized I wasn't gonna be able to make a full prototype of a new game idea in time for a design meeting tonight and decided to see if I could do the bare minimum mechanics with a deck of playing cards just to try them out... I think this might play better then what I originally came up with...

The hardest decision as a designer, do I go with a more marketable theme that more publishers might be interested in or do I go with a theme that would be more fun for me personally, but I know will probably result in automatic NOs from certain publishers?

What if I designed a game that combined both poker AND blackjack?... Would that be too crazy?... Just brainstorming ideas here for something I'm working on, but it is a thought.

Am I about to design another game out of spite? If I had a nickel for every time I did that I would have like 3 nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s surprising that it keeps happening.

Hot Take: If your game says it can be played at 2 players, but the 2 player version uses a dummy player it’s not really 2 players.

Finished the fourth Dungeon Crawler Carl book and have now moved onto the fifth one “The Butcher’s Masquerade”. Again, haven’t been this invested in a series in a long time. Hoping I can catch up before the new one comes out in a couple months.

Finally had a chance to go see the new movie Iron Lung before it leaves theaters. Really enjoyed it.

Had an amazing playtest of “Ravenous Seas” tonight trying out a couple of quick changes I made since Tantrum Con this past weekend. This is the most destroyed I have ever seen the ship. It was so close to sinking, but the players pulled it off in the end.

I am now onto book 4 of Dungeon Crawler Carl, The Gate of the Feral Gods. Haven’t been this into a series in a long time and am really enjoying it.

Another great playtest tonight of my co-op sea monster hunting game, Ravenous Seas. The core systems are almost right where I want them. Which means soon we get to move onto the fun part, making whole new monsters for the players to fight.
