An important win for the fight against #sexualviolence. Today I voted with a strong majority for a new EU law on a common definition of r@pe based on lack of #consent. It passed despite attacks from the far right, who only care about protecting #women when it suits their anti-immigrant agenda.

Only yes means yes! At our initiative, the Parliament just called for a common European definition of rape anchored in the lack of consent. The EU Commission cannot turn a blind eye: propose legislation now so we can deliver justice for women. Congratulations @joannasw.bsky.social and Evin Incir!

Today marks 28 years since the #GoodFridayAgreement. It is proof that peace is possible. But #Iran, #Gaza & #Ukraine remind us that it can never be taken for granted. Now more than ever, we need the political bravery and leadership of John Hume to choose dialogue over violence.

Half of the children in one school in Dublin are #homeless. No roof over their head. Nowhere to do homework. Nowhere to play. No where to be a kid. This should offend us all. It’s a national disgrace at the hands of Govt inaction & now 4000+ children in #Dublin alone are the casualties.
