Cornwall Elections May 1st: This year will mark the 80th anniversery of VE Day. Many died defending democracy & earning our right to vote; to have a say in who governs us – we must exercise it. The 2024 voter turnout was estimated to have been 60%, the lowest turnout since 2001. USE YOUR VOTE!

There is an alternative to Government welfare cuts - a 2% tax on wealth. There is no shortage of money here, we just need a fairer approach to tax - take more from the few not the many.

Scrap austerity – tax the super-rich instead. Britain can’t rebuild with more cuts – a wealth tax on the richest is the fair alternative to funding public services and growth.

On what basis can Plymouth “agree” anything that includes Cornwall, when they have not consulted us or asked our opinion? This is breathtaking arrogance, and proves how little respect there is for Cornish identity and agency amongst Devon politicians.

The real problem is that people expect Government to give them things, but they never did. Democracy was won by direct action. Independence was won by direct action. Working Rights were won by direct action. And I don't mean some peaceful protest that they completely ignore.

For most of our history, Cornwall had its own Parliament. The Stannary Parliament last met in 1753 and had the power to make its own laws. Devolution to a Cornish Parliament will be a return to the rightful state of affairs. It’s our right as a national minority to make our own decisions.

A Devonwall Mayor would be largely voted in by Devon, and a Combined Authority would be dominated by Devon politicians. As a national minority, we have the right to make our own decisions over Cornish language, heritage, culture and economic rights. We won't be run from Devon.
