Our Volunteers away day to Thompson Common was enjoyed by all. There was lots of wildlife and many ponds to explore. The history of the site was explained to us by Jon Preston – Norfolk Wildlife Trust Area Manager, and Jon Baker – Amphibian and Reptile Conservation.

On Sunday we held the Guided Nature Sensory Walk with the special sensory element being undertaken where people could be blindfolded and walk with a guide around New Fen experiencing the sounds, smells and feel underfoot of the fen. Thank you to Mark and Bernadette Chamley who took the photos.

Volunteers carry out regular Riverfly monitoring on the Little Ouse. This involves taking a kick sample and then counting specific invertebrates to give an indication of the quality of the water. Recently they came across these interesting cased caddis with cases made of stones. Photo Ellie Beach
