The former Optus tech said that they (Optus) "often block 000 calls if it's not going through their network. Another source said that when they were with Optus, they "called police but couldn;t get through." "So I removed the SIM card [no carrier now] and was able to get through to Triple 0." 2/

JUST IN: The Optus Triple Zero outage is not new. Optus have done this before, and according to several sources (which include a former Optus tech and two communications experts). Triple 0 calls (or 112) are supposed to go through 'any network' if the carrier's network is not available. 1/
