We've been campaigning hard for a low-income transit pass: - 2,400+ emails sent to MLAs - 50+ organizations signed on - over a dozen media mentions - beautiful art, posters and zines - a rally coming up on July 1st - a Vancouver Council motion, soon Langley, and possibly more municipalities?!?

We truly lucked out with our interns. Mandeep has been with us for the past year as a volunteer, and since May, as a staff. It is hard to overstate the impact she has had on our team and our community. We are going to miss her. Thank you, Mandeep, for everything you have given to this work.

We had a great time talking about accessibility in transportation along with @movementyvr.bsky.social. We heard about missing curb cuts, the joy of a nice protected bike lane for mobility scooter users, need for faster elevator repairs at transit stations, longer pedestrian crossing times, and more!

I’m on a Mark I right now. The vehicle is so loud that I cannot wait until these things are scrapped or sent to museums. Riding these as a transit user is deeply unpleasant considering improvements the rest of our rolling stock have.

Do you ride the 49? There's a good chance you do, since it's the 3rd busiest bus route in the whole region! Bus lanes have been proposed along 49th all the way from Cambie to Boundary - yay!!!

This is one of those weird policy spaces where we have fallen behind Calgary, Edmonton, Kamloops, Toronto, every major American city, etc. I always come back to "why?", what with our reputation for leftyness? The situation is embarrassing and I hope that will make this campaign an easy win.

Add up gas, insurance, parking, maintenance, and the car itself; car ownership can easily cost you $15,000 annually. Families that switch from two cars to one, or from one car to none can save a ton of money.

Some updates on Vancouver bus lanes and... 1/2

TransLink announced that the Second Narrows Bridge is getting a RapidBus! Is that what we wanted? The R2 extension in September 2026 will make it a one seat ride from Metrotown to the North Shore. This follows the same route as the BRT we want, but a BRT will be much cooler.

I am confident that one day we will have SkyTrain to UBC and gondola to SFU. We need to band together and fight for funding, and elect leaders who make them a priority. If you care about these things, then @movementyvr.bsky.social is for you.
