I'm absolutely devastated and shocked to hear that Daveigh Chase passed away yesterday at the age of 35. Chase really did such wonderful work voicing Lilo in Lilo and Stitch in Chihiro in Spirited Away and her legacy will really live in those films. Such a massive loss.

I just saw a tweet that was along the lines of “Why are people excited for Forgotten Island and not Hexed?!?!? uwu :(“ Yeah man, I wonder why people are excited for the movie from the team behind Puss In Boots The Last Wish and not confident about the one from the team behind Wish and Moana 2.

Even ignoring everything, this man legitimately has the most evil sounding voice I’ve ever heard. Does he just naturally sound like he’s out for blood? With a voice like that I’d be more surprised if he wasn’t a complete psychopath.

An animated film from Hong Kong about a soulkeepr who guides people in the afterlife to be reincarnated was given a very limited release here in the US. I got to see it and I have things to say on why you should see it. Here's my review of Another World.

This excited me more than anything from that Nintendo Direct.

Honestly, now that we live in a post-Nimona world, I think I’m weirdly happy Blue Sky is dead. Knowing Disney, all they would’ve allowed them to make is Ice Age sequels anyway. I’d rather the team move on to an environment where they can flourish (Annapurna) than them become another corporate cog.

While this is undoubtedly a success, keep in mind that it took over 2 months to achieve the milestone that the first movie crossed in less than 1, and returns are significantly less both domestically and overseas. A billion is a billion, but a 350 million dollar (25%!!!) decrease is not nothing.

All three of these were very good! A wonderfully diverse output and magnificent showcase of what the guys overseas are doing with the medium. I get it, the Mario Galaxy movie was garbage, but I think it’s important to look out for the good instead of continually shitting on the bad.

Beautiful movie. Kinda feels like what Scarlet tried and ultimately failed to be, displaying themes of death and letting hatred consume us in a super compelling way. A little clunky but everything comes together by the end and the overall package is more than worth it. Definitely a winner.

We still have not gotten a trailer or poster for this. Wish and Moana 2 had their trailers by this point (and one of those movies was duct-taped together in a few months). Ice Age 6 just got its teaser and that releases 2 months AFTER this does. I think they know what they have.

This one really hurts. Watched Persepolis for the first time last year and loved it. Even nowadays, I don’t think we get many animated movies that are quite as distinct and personal-feeling as this one. May she rest in peace and her story live on.

These is valid and all, but, even putting aside bad movies, I just think it’s sad and pathetic that people are praising the multimillionaire JUST for having basic respect for humans. Which is good!!! Don’t get me wrong!!! But like…shouldn’t it be normal and not something we give out gold stars for?!

This man produces dogshit movies that help to permanently lower the bar for animation (to the point of literally calling it a genre) and y’all celebrate him because he makes a fuckton of money and had enough decency to say AI was indeed bad.

Seeing two original R rated horror movies topping a Star War (at the *summer* box office no less) is a beautiful thing. I remember reading something last weekend suggesting Obsession could maybe ultimately make around $80m. It's gonna top 100 by the end of this weekend! Insane and great.

Hey @gkids.com, please give "Another World" a release somewhere in the DC region cause I, along with many of my mutuals and friends, really want to support more international animated films and the limited reach you've been giving some of them lately has made that quite difficult.

Everyone, I have a special favor to ask. GKIDS is releasing the Hong Kong animated feature Another World (which I’ve heard amazing things about!) next week, and they are giving it a PITIFUL release, even by their standards. Which is why I want something to be done.

Being a fan of this company is so hard sometimes.

I’d love to see this but the only showtimes you guys have put out are in NYC and California! And keep in mind this was NOT labeled as a limited release! What gives? @gkids.com
