#37 - Ys: Memories of Celceta (PC) Falcom finally made their own version of Ys 4, combining elements from both of the original two Ys 4s and made something new. The story is great, and exploring Celceta Island is a lot of fun. #Beat2025

#36 - boyfriend or cake? (PC) What? It's a gameshow where you have to determine if a dude is a cake or a boyfriend. Also there's existential dread #Beat2025

#35 - frog detective 1 (PC) An adorable and weird game where you're a frog and have to solve the mystery of ghosts on an island. Also there's breakdancing #Beat2025

@badgerpunch.com Probably mentioned it before, but I love love how Roguecraft looks. I have some pretty intense childhood memories of Legend (Trazere), and despite those games being impossible to play, they have a visual style that's very nostalgic to me.

#34 - Realms of Arkania: Star Trail (PC) A classic! Wonderful world traveling RPG where you hunt down a special artifact that will unite dwarfs and elves to fight the orc menace. Interesting set pieces, weird humor, and lots to explore. #Beat2025

#33 - Donald Duck: Goin Quackers (PS2) One of the 5 completely distinct versions of Goin Quackers. This version adds boss fights and special moves that you use in stage challenges to get score. #Beat2025

#32 - Dalmations 3 (PS2) Not a game. A 'film' (8 minutes of the 40 minute runtime is from Dalmations 2) they stuck on a PS2 DVD with some slide puzzles. Not great. #Beat2025

#31 - Madagascar (PS2) Based on the movie. Toy For Bob delivers a fun platformer that keeps delivering fresh gameplay for its entire runtime. Top marks for a license title. #Beat2025

#30 - Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (PS2) The last Breath of Fire game. An effort from Capcom to try and make something entirely new, and produce a more challenging game then Breath of Fire IV. It's a lot of fun and has an interesting tone to it. #Beat2025

#29 - Gungrave G.O.R.E. (PC) Avoided it at launch because it looked like it played like the first Gungrave, but picked it up when I learned they re-made the game to play like Overdose. Its a lot of fun. Dumb arcade shooting stuff. But it looks and plays nice. #Beat2025

#28 - Hammerboy (Amiga) Some sort of whack a mole thing. It's got about 4 levels and then loops. It's really not very good. #Beat2025

#27 - El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron (PC) An incredibly stylish bust mostly inexplicably beatemup where you have to punch your way to the top of a biblical tower so God won't flood the earth. Very pretty and weird. #Beat2025

#26 - Demonicon (PC) Extremely mid action RPG based on the Dark Eye roleplaying system. It's just alright. Extremely short, too. #Beat2025

#25 - Breath of Fire IV (PS1) A gorgeous, but sadly rushed and incomplete feeling JRPG. It has a really strong start, but the story beats stop hitting and you mostly end up going from place to place with little rhyme or reason by the end. And they didn't even finish the ending. #Beat2025

#24 - Gungrave (PS2) An aggressively anime game where you play a zombie frankenstein that's made of shooting. You blast up the anime mafia and fight big blob monsters, too. #Beat2025

#23 - Record of Lodoss War: The Advent of Kardis (Dreamcast) A unique game in that weird post Diablo 1 pre Diablo 2 era when everybody was experimenting. It's got a really unique advancement system where you modify and buff your gear. One of my favorite games. #Beat2025

#22 - Arzette: Jewel of Faramor (PC) Hilarious homage to the classic (?) CD-I Zelda games. Spot on structure and animation style, but still tweaked enough to be an actually appealing game to play in the modern era. #Beat2025

ALSO. The Retro Achievement set for the Dreamcast game Record of Lodoss War is 80% complete, and will probably be released in June. Its one of my favorite games ever, so when that drops, I WILL be doing a playthrough of it.

#21 - Drova: Forsaken Kin (PC) The first effort by German studio Just2D. Basically a 2D pixel art version of Gothic. Sublime vibe, great writing, secrets and surprises around every single corner. Worth it. Give it a try #Beat2025

#20 - Labyrinth of the Demon King (PC) Unique first person Silent Hill-esque game by J. R. Hudepohl. Fun atmosphere and story, interesting puzzles with pretty unforgiving combat. Took me 10 hours, so its a bit on the short side. But its good for what it is. #Beat2025

#19 - Star Wars: Force Unleashed II (PC) Kinda crazy. It's like they got told 'make the most exciting game ever' so its just nonstop explosions and bananas shit happening the entire time. It does end up making the game rather short though because it burns itself out. #Beat2025

#18 - Shining the Holy Ark (Saturn) Amazing follow-up to Shining in the Darkness, and a direct prequel to Shining Force 3. Brilliantly designed dungeons that never get boring, with each having some special theme or gimmick to them. Very good. #Beat2025

#17 - Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (Switch) Really fun metroidvania. Goes absolutely bananas on the spike platforming sections, giving some of the most uncivilized platform sequences I've seen in games. #Beat2025

#16 - Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS) Pretty much a masterpiece. Has a bit of a strange difficulty curve where it starts really hard, then the rest of the game is pretty easy. But the vibe is great, the music is great, and fusing demons is fun. #Beat2025

#17 - Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (Switch) Really fun metroidvania. Really tricky combat and some of the most crushing platforming sections I've experienced in a game like this. They seemed really obsessed with spike mazes. #Beat2025

Played DOOMBLADE on GoG today. It's 66% off! Lovely Metroid-esque game that came out in 2023, with some wild visuals and unique movement tech and lore. Sadly it just kinda got passed over and nobody has ever heard of it or played it. Just a shame. #DOOMBLADE #MetroidVania #GoG

#15 - Command and Conquer [NOD] (PC) Pretty fabulous. A nice start to the series, though it felt a bit nuts on the difficulty curve. Ended up putting the down to Casual and still struggled in the last half. #Beat2025

#14 - Darksiders Warmastered (PC) Very pretty remaster of a banger 7th gen game. Had a lot of fun with it, though it did seem to kinda fall apart at the very end. Most of the games in this series do that it feels like. #Beat2025

#13 - The Mummy Demastered (PC) Really fun Metroidvania tie-in to the forgotten Tom Cruise Mummy movie. The game was really short, at only 3 hours, and had kind of annoying enemy design. #Beat2025

#12 - Shadow Tower Abyss (PS2) A really interesting and atmospheric first person dungeon crawler by From Software. It's worth playing and experiencing, but it may have been very rushed and ends up being about 5 and a half hours long. The last part of the game seems very rushed. #Beat2025

#11 - Monster Hunter Wilds (PC) Really good. Looks and plays fantastic. Well worth the wait. I only beat the story mode, so there's tons left to explore in the game. #Beat2025

#10 - Red Faction II (PC) Not quite as good as the first one, but kinda makes up for it by being blunt and stupid. Everything blows up all the time, all your guns have grenades, rockets, whatever. So you're constantly exploding things. It's just a lot of fun. #Beat2025

#9 - Cybershadow (PC) Fantastic Ninja Gaiden style retro platformer. Really fun, great level design. And the retro aesthetic is 100% on point. #Beat2025

#8 - Deathlord Relorded (Apple II) A very strange and hateful Ultima clone made by Al Escuedero (Darksun, Spelljammer) It was interesting to explore, though I didn't really engage with the difficulty seriously and cheated a lot. More of an examination then a playthrough. #Beat2025 #AlEscuedero

Got through the infamous STAIRS DUNGEON in Deathlord. Got a bunch of the required artifacts, the Deathlord fighting spear, the Deathlord Lantern, and a ring that grants Fire Immunity and rod that grants Acid Immunity. Four words down, two to go! #deathlord #crpg
