I gained a lot of enjoyment and practice from playing art games, but in a lot of ways I feel like it's stifling my creativity. I'm trying to take a step back to give myself space to fall in love with my original projects again!

Something I think about a lot is how art making must have been essential to survival in prehistory because why else would people expend energy on it if it wasn't. Also this explains why I look so much younger than I am. 😌

Feeling loved and seen by my kiddo who knows I don't identify with the word mother, but still wanted to make something for me today. 🥹 (I like mama and personally find it to be sufficiently gender neutral. They also very occasionally call me may-may which is Ray and mama combined which I love! 💖)

Can't stop thinking about the baby squirrel and all the little mundane decisions I made yesterday that lead me to being in the right place at the right time with the right items to help it. Truly a universe aligning moment.

I bought a new pair of shoes and while walking home I found this little guy lying in the street! I thought it was dead, but then it moved. Good thing I had a shoebox handy!! Called my local wildlife rehabber and she advised me to bring it home and keep it warm until she can come pick it up.

Feeling a big kind of way about my art and what I want from it lately. I very much enjoy art as a hobby. I enjoy helping other people complete their art (inking). But I don't want to be "marketable" and I don't know if I actually want to make large projects (GNs) anymore which is kind of a big oof.

I'm a fulltime freelancer as a single person with a child and it's HARD, but I make it work by being very frugal and renting a very small apartment. Anyway, I'm just saying my piece to let other single creators know that it's possible! It's not easy and I make a lot of sacrifices, but I'm happy!

I was today years old when I learned that the two divots in the top of a Ramune bottle are so you can nest the marble behind it to make pouring the soda out easier. Also the bottle design was invented by a guy named Hiram Codd in the UK in the 1870s!? I want to make a zine about it.

I got to pet a horse today! I scratched her neck until she turned her head to me and went all soft in the eyes. 🥺 And then my eyes swelled up.. but it was WORTH IT! (I'm extremely allergic to horses, but that won't stop me from petting one if given the chance LOL)
