For the last two days I've been feeling run down and puny. My eyes and nose are running and I'm coughing today. I really just want to go home and go to bed. This is the longest day ever.

I went to The Bad Place to engage with an airline company because I could not reach them via website, app, or phone. They responded because I called them out online, but they didn't fix my issue. Grrrr.

I was just given the pat down of my life at the tiny Shreveport Regional Airport. Apparently security is inversely proportional to the size of the airport. 🙄

Mom and I are listening to Christmas zydeco music and the Cajun Night Before Christmas on the radio.

Being home at my Mom's reminds me how much I miss having a piano to play. At some point I'll move the piano into my home in GA, and then I'll start taking lessons again.

Looked through a pack of old pictures of my Dad from 3 months to somewhere in his early 60s. Here's a pic of my Dad from August 1982. So much hair!

Took my Mom to see Wicked: for Good. I've never seen a sequel where they assumed you had seen the original this much. My Mom, who had not seen Part 1 was completely flummoxed.

I'm flying home to spend some time with my Mom. But I'll probably have to go over to Dad's too and clear out some of his junk. It seems so strange that he's not around anymore, and all that's left are the things in the house he collected. 😢

Spending the day reading students' final portfolios. They are all mostly very good... which makes my life so much easier!

Sitting in Kaldi's Coffee and "We are the World" comes on. All of the sudden, when Whitney Houston sings her part, four women sing along with her! It was so joyful and meaningful!

My Dad has been gone 2 days, and somehow the world continues to turn. Happy Thanksgiving Dad, hope you're enjoying some turkey in the afterlife.

From the "this is gross and not something you see every day" files: C's toilet overflowed, and today the plumber pulled a DEAD RAT out. So creepy!!! And horrible!

I saw my Dad in the hospital yesterday. He looks so small and weak. I fear it won't be long.

I am writing a promotion letter today for someone who absolutely deserves it. It's exciting to see all of the person's accomplishments--but so hard to boil down into two pages!

Why are chewable vitamin C tablets so big and so awful-tasting?

My father has been put in palliative care.

One of the professors here at school--someone I admired and cherished--a poet, died of cancer this morning. He was one of my favorite people and someone who was like a beloved uncle. He walks with angels now.

The graphic novel rendering of my collection What Magick May Not Alter got canned because the publisher's humanities/arts grants were canceled to Donald Rumpledipshit.

Facilities just poured an algaecide in my air conditioner vents and the smell is so bad I had to open the window...letting in all the cold air. Waaah. :-D

If you are at a doctor's appointment, or are doing something important, and I happen to call you, LET YOUR VOICEMAIL GET THE CALL. It seems dumb to answer "I'm at a doctor's appointment" and then hang up very rudely.

Poems with poorly-controlled rhyme schemes make me sad.
