Had to cancel FE last minute which slightly derails my plan for Anthrocon this year to be my 50th con ('cos now it'd be my 49th) so now I'm deciding if I want to squeeze in an extra con for arbitrary number fun but the set of cons that are both before AC and fit into my schedule is possibly ∅

Today I experienced 3 levels of Canada: Level 1: "It was 16C three days ago but now I have to shovel snow?" Level 2: "wtf I think someone stole my good snow shovel?" Level 3: "...when did I become someone who owns multiple snow shovels?"

A weird thing about being disabled is how often you miss a meeting 'cos your eyes suck but you just make a vague excuse that probably sounds like a lie 'cos you don't want to explain how some unexpected snow turned the whole world into a white blur and you literally couldn't find the train station

Despite Air Canada's best efforts (and they really did pull out all the stops this time), I have arrived

It's my first winter olympics since becoming a Canadian citizen and ngl trying to stay on top of what events to watch/follow when your country is good at more than like two winter sports is a lot more challenging than expected

Reviewing grad school applications and the impact of AI use in cover letters is kinda interesting, like these things have always been kinda artificial/exaggerated (like any cover letter is) but when it's clearly gone through chatGPT or whatever it adds an almost uncanny valley level of insincerity
