Current read. The first essay, written in 1974, talks about an unelected person who, without drawing much attention, dramatically changed the dynamics of a state and affected the quality hundreds of thousands of lives. Most importantly, the people harmed get to tell their stories.

Book Mail! I bought a chapbook by a poet I stumbled across on Substack and look how pretty it is— it’s hand bound, and the cover has collage and stitching on it. Can’t wait to read.

I love buying chapbooks from poets I meet on social media. This is a solid collection— I particularly enjoyed a poem titled Rooftop.

This (moderate) level of racial competency is VERY rare for someone of this demo; white folks should’ve been listening to and learning from people like this for decades. Sadly, it’s too late to dismantle racism, now. Racism has won. White America chose it instead of a hyper-qualified Black Woman. 🙁

Also, a lot of people being dehumanized, detained, and deported have been paying taxes without being eligible for the services our taxes are meant to provide. This, too, is a conscious decision.

I keep thinking about how Gov Abbott had plenty of funds to fly and bus migrants all across the country but couldn't come up with a million for a flood warning system.

A 14-year-old boy was shot and killed in Florida last week when a group of teens was filming a video with multiple guns and one discharged, but you might not have heard about it because it’s the sort of thing that happens every single day in America. It’s long past time we did something about that.

Guys, I love all of you, but the answer to RFK, Jr. is not that autistic adults hold jobs, pay taxes, and get laid, it's that everyone deserves to live even if they can't work, pay taxes, or get laid.

RFK Jr. is very loud and very WRONG about Autism. 1. It’s not a disease 2. There are thousands of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder who pay taxes, have jobs, can use the bathroom on their own, and are thriving in life.
