When coding hierarchical models in Stan, I always check if I can specify a marginal likelihood to avoid sampling random intercepts or slopes. While this speeds things up and improves model comparison via LOO, it's incredible how the conditional log-likelihood naturally solves missing value problems!

Paper alert! 📢 We just published a Registered Report Many-Labs study! 🌍🔬 I have to highlight the massive amount of work @aliciafrancomnez.bsky.social put into leading this. I feel truly honored to be part of this team and to learn from her example of exactly how science should be done.

Two years ago, I had an idea, one that evolved over time as I kept reading and learning. Today, a major first part of that idea has just become my first PhD preprint, now publicly available on PsyArxiv. Let me tell you a bit more about the story behind it... while I prepare the submission.

I haven't read this book yet, but the authors (Grant & Di Tanna) know their stuff, and they provide code for every script/engine. Meta- and mega-analysis one of those places where Bayes is natural and often easier than non-Bayes. bayesian-ma.net

Frameworks like GLLAMM (Skrondal & Rabe-Hesketh, 2004) or GLVM (Muthén, 2002) will be the future of psychometrics in the experimental world. They allow us to estimate correlations between experimental measures of latent cognitive processes with less uncertainty than any other traditional approach!
