Kevin Sanders (YDBF abuser) was sentenced to 5 years on the felony charge with all but 2 years suspended, and 12 months all suspended on the remaining 3 misdemeanors. Pretty amazing work by AWLA and the commonwealths attorney to see animal abuse actually charged and prosecuted successfully.

👋 from the rabbit hole this led me down. I pulled a bunch more stuff. There's a clearly a huge drop in the 17-18 school year, and two things happened that year. 1. VDOE stopped including grade level reading as part of accreditation and 2. we changed the SOL test (which is what I have to use here).

In 2015 Alexandria had perfectly average reading performance scores. Here’s what has happened since, for ACPS and nearby districts. Our drop is basically double anyone else’s. Demographics explain the relative starting points… But the change?

Ok hypothetically if someone keeps tearing down my Betterbraddock sign along the playground at Uhler, do I just keep putting one back in its place or do I escalate and put like 10. It’s just this sign, there are others still there. So it’s specifically an opponent and it has happened 3x now.

This is the correct instinct for a journalist - dispatch calls don’t give us the whole story for sure. But the pattern gives us a useful signal. And Alexandria’s dispatch calls in April showed nineteen pedestrian, cyclist, or scooter strikes. We’ve seen news coverage of 6 maybe?
