Today is the first of three very hot and humid days in SE WI. Afternoon temps will reach the mid 90s today, feeling like the 100s with the humidity. We won’t cool down much tonight with overnight lows in the mid 70s for most, but staying in the upper 70s in Milwaukee.

A couple of stronger storms are possible this evening into tonight across southern Wisconsin. Best chance for strong storms with wind and hail will be in SW WI. Storms weaken as they move east. Here’s what the radar may look like around 1am.

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting some summer heat, today is for you! It’ll likely end up being our warmest day so far this year. Lake breeze looks to develop around 5-6pm which will cool us nicely into the 70s and upper 60s this evening.

“What is this thing that always shows up on radar?” is a question I get a lot, especially during storm season. This is the Butler Ridge wind farm! The turbines are tall and wide enough that the radar beam in Sullivan hits it.

WI remains under a level 1 risk for severe storms today. An isolated storm or two is possible between 2-4pm, but the better chance for rain and storms arrives around sunset and continues into Wednesday morning. Hail is the main threat, but an isolated tornado can't be ruled out.

Temps warm into the low 80s once again today with more noticeable humidity, but DON'T cool off by swimming in Lake Michigan. Strong southerly winds will create dangerous currents in the lake today.

Who’s ready for some summer warmth?! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Looks like we’ll get some warmer weather in the Great Lakes region in early June. Average highs in Milwaukee in early June are 72-74°.

The steady rain is exiting, but you’ll want to keep the umbrella handy as off and on showers continue not only for the rest of today but for a good chunk of tomorrow too. A few storms are also possible now through sunset, but severe weather is not expected.

NWS Milwaukee has confirmed 4 tornadoes in Dodge county from yesterday: two EF2s and two EF1s. The EF2 tornadoes in Juneau and Mayville had peak winds of 120mph.

Two Tornado Warnings in effect until 6:15 for Dodge and SW Fond du Lac county. Both have radar indication rotation and the potential to produce golf ball sized hail.

Tornado Warning for Dodge county until 6:10pm. Rotation is over Reeseville heading NE. Golf ball sized hail is also a concern with this storm.

Most of the state is now under a Tornado Watch. The watch for southern WI runs through 10pm. Multiple severe and tornado warned storms are crossing the Mississippi River near Eau Claire while additional storms are just getting going between La Crosse and Madison.

Hey SE WI! Widespread frost is expected tonight, but you’ll be able to safely plant this weekend. A fantastic stretch of weather is on tap with sunny skies & warming temps. A light wind will allow a lake breeze to develop daily, so head inland for warmer temps! Blue temps = highs lakeside.

Oh hey spring 🌼

This is while I’ll always live 5-10 miles inland from the lake. I grew up less than a quarter mile from the lakefront and temps there are only in the 50s right now. Meanwhile it’s 80° at my place ☀️

A Tornado Watch has been issued until 11pm for western Wisconsin to the Twin Cities. This includes Eau Claire. Make sure you have your tornado shelter plan in place if you live in this area! Remember, underground is best, but at bare minimum put as many walls between you and the outside as you can.

S MN/N IA looks to be the bullseye for potentially strong tornadoes late afternoon-early eve. Storms would then continue into western WI posing similar threats. As storms progress east tonight they’ll lose some punch, but damaging winds, hail, and embedded 🌪️ are still possible.

SPC has honed in on an area from SE MN, NE IA, & western WI with the greatest chance for strong tornadoes late Monday afternoon - early evening *if* storms can form then. Main line of storms looks to track across WI Mon. night with hail, strong winds, & tornadoes all a concern.

EARLY HEADS UP that a severe weather event is looking more and more likely on Monday. The entire state is already in a level 2/5 risk with a large portion in a 3/5 risk. Hail, damaging wind, and tornadoes are all a concern. More updates to come.
