On this day in 1911, the great Josh Gibson was born in Buena Vista, GA. Here's my painting of the great man with the Cangrejeros de Santurce (Liga de Béisbol Profesional de Puerto Rico) in 1939. Card collectors might recognize the image from Josh's scarce 1950-51 Toleteros issue.

Here are the 7 I’m feeling good about. These 7 together narrow it down to the 1930-1932 NY Giants. Posting the PSA DNA authenticated ball that I’m using to compare the signatures. I’m still not certain about whether Lindstrom is on the bottom of the panel or in another spot. Still looking! 1/2

Some other pics. Mike told me it has lived in a SOCK for decades. It’s now in a cube. I’m feeling good about Fred Fitzsimmons and Carl Hubbell. I think I see a Bob O’Farrell on there too (I know his sig a little from my Bloomington Bloomers research). Def NY Giants. Hubbell’s rookie year was ‘28.

I’m trying to figure out whose signatures are on this ball. I believe one is Fred Fitzsimmons - he played from the 20s to 40s & had a heck of a career. Anyone out there have any ideas on the other sigs?

Drawings and writing on birch bark by Onfim, a 6- or 7-year-old boy who lived in Novgorod, Russia, in the mid-12th century. There are 17 preserved documents, including this one, as well as letter 199 (not pictured) that shows "a portrait of himself, disguised as a fantastic animal"

Anyone know if there is a way to have the net removed from this image of Sey’s first homerun? I’d love to get a print made of it…thank you.

long shot (here, might've been better in the Twitter days), anyone got this book: William Morris's Kelmscott: Landscape and History, 2007? I've only copied a chapter out of it and then got a spread missing! (pp. 66-67). Have got about half of it off Google Books snippets but seem to have got stuck.

Love this early RPPC of a baseball game I picked up at an antique show today. Saw it last year and didn’t buy it…I was over the moon the vendor still had it today. The ball is on the way…the ump behind the pitcher. The pitcher’s follow-thru. The fielders. The batter and how he’s holding the bat.

One of my recent pick-ups. Type 1 of Herman Schwartje (spelled “Schwartze” on the back). He threw a perfect game for our hometown Bloomington Bloomers in 1925. Great to see the shot of him at old Fans Field. Check the folks in the background! 1/2
