On this day in 1911, the great Josh Gibson was born in Buena Vista, GA. Here's my painting of the great man with the Cangrejeros de Santurce (Liga de Béisbol Profesional de Puerto Rico) in 1939. Card collectors might recognize the image from Josh's scarce 1950-51 Toleteros issue.

No matter the league, no matter the era, Josh Gibson stands as one of the greatest power hitters of all time. The legendary Negro Leagues catcher was born #OTD in 1911.

Love this early RPPC of a baseball game I picked up at an antique show today. Saw it last year and didn’t buy it…I was over the moon the vendor still had it today. The ball is on the way…the ump behind the pitcher. The pitcher’s follow-thru. The fielders. The batter and how he’s holding the bat.
