Art is never trivial. An artist I've collected prints from for years, posted Philadelphia stands with Minnesota. My heart burst with love. Create, share, it is so important. So many of us feel like we can't do much right now. Creating art is resistance.

15 years ago I borrowed a bulletproof vest from a reporter so I could report from a war zone. I held onto it after I returned. Last week the reporter finally asked for it back because he is headed to Minneapolis.

For those of us who have an interest in or study Black history, Arturo Schomburg is a familiar name. The name also graces a library of renown in New York City, known as The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

People who aren’t frightened are either complicit or clueless. And at this point in time, there’s no excuse for being clueless.

Two things I would say right now. One, keep everyone and everything that you love very much in the front of your mind and heart. Two, to Quote Alan Moore, Get off your knees. People in Minnesota are showing us how to do both.
