Gonna revisit the fourth (unpublished) book I wrote, Forensic Necromancy. Mystery fantasy novella starring Joanne Bockrath, one of the MCs of The Last Virtues (sequel to The Witch and the Ostrich). There's centaurs, ghosts, werewolves, all that good shit.

I will reward a weird premise with at least a deeper look.

For now, the sequel to The Witch and the Ostrich is called The Last Virtues.

Aaaaargh. Woke up at 2 a.m. to get tickets to the London show for the Clair Obscur concert (right as ticket sales opened) and it sold out pretty much instantly.

Hmm. I may have to rewrite more of the book than I thought. But doing so will give it a stronger tie to the first book and make it more focused.

I now have the book's ending roughly mapped out. It should not take another 10,000 words to complete. The next draft or two will be focused on bringing everything into coherence and fleshing out the characters.

Close to 100k words on The Witch and the Ostrich 2 (haven't figured out the title yet). I'd HOPE to have the first draft done by 4th of July weekend. Maybe. Perhaps. We'll see.

Huzzah! 8000 words in one day! Beat my own record.

Most I've ever written in one day was 7000 or so words. I've done 5766 thus far today. Dunno if I'll break my record, but at least it's been a productive day.

Getting there. Maybe another 10000 words and the first rough draft will be done.

True story: Found a ghostwriting gig. Read the outline. Googled the main characters' names and "treasure hunt". Whole premise was stolen from a Christian film. Talked to the outliner. She used ChatGPT to 'write' the outline. She wanted the money and credit for a goddamn premise.

Many thanks to those two people who told Space Wizard they want a sequel. It's honestly really heartening, and it was the kick in the ass I needed to get back to work on it. Now I just need to be consistent with it.

Most amused that one of the other demon-hunters in episode 1 of Devil May Cry is just John Constantine with the serial numbers filed off.

I would shave twenty-something years off my lifespan if it meant I would never have to see the phrase "lore-accurate" ever again.
