This was always going to be the outcome. Private universities with large endowments can cushion the blow, state universities without a large donor base will be left to wither. The rich get richer, everyone else is left to die. It is, at its core, simply age-old Republican politics at work.

In 2020, we started an NIH R01 to study Parkinson's. Thanks to years of tireless work by my staff, the project is a huge success. The renewal scored top 4%. Yet in May, that staff may lose their jobs b/c of this. Hard-working people with kids & mortgages. I have no words that won't get me in trouble

I wrote about "Action Stopping" for the 2nd Ed. of the Encyclopedia of the Human Brain. I know book chapters are sometimes of lesser interest to readers (and writers), but I tried to make it a worthwhile & somewhat comprehensive intro for new trainees. Check it out on psyArxiv.

Anybody have (cognitive) neuroscience journals they like for their work, outside of Neuron, Current Bio, JN, and JoCN? Is PLoS Bio pleasant? The new ex-NeuroImage thing, guessing that's mostly fMRI? Any Cortex-heads?

I interpreted this similarly. Unless I'm completely misunderstanding this paragraph, it shows how committed the editors are to this new model, in spite of concerning indicators - thus ruining what was far and away the best journal in the field. But I guess if you build it, you get to break it, too.
