While digging through my Game Boy carts last night I found what might be my favorite bootleg find. The title and label really capture what I love about unofficial releases.

My guess is that it gets ignored largely because it was developed by Taito’s American team, but I still hold out hope that some day we’ll get a Zoo Keeper Arcade Archives release. It’s a shame that it can only be found on Taito Legends.

I just had a caesar salad that had Taijin seasoning in the dressing and it was such an upgrade that I can’t believe I haven’t encountered this sooner. Full recommendation.

I picked up an Atari 7800+ new for $50 shipped, and while I know it’s effectively a specialized emulation box, I’m having a great time breaking out some of my favorite VCS titles from storage. HDMI out eliminates 90% of the setup headaches caused by RF output.

If you like the PlayStation, chronogaming, Japanese obscurities, or all three, you owe it to yourself to check this out. It’s terrific, and why I’m actively on the hunt for two somewhat obscure mahjong titles.

Goodwill may not be what it once was, but for $2 I’m about to quintuple the versions of Culture Beat’s Mr. Vain that I’m currently familiar with. Over 26 minutes of knowing not only what Mr. Vain knows (what he wants), but also when he wants it (now).

Something I love about music is how it can personally develop a tie to a certain time or place. Usually this is tied to memory. However, sometimes an artist is just tied to a time of year. When winter finally sets in, I find myself listening to Squeeze more. It also helps that I like black coffee.

Absolute missed opportunity by Magic here. Do they realize how many of us would buy into a game with Urkelbot, Waldo Faldo, Stevil, or Stefan Urquelle? I’d build an entire Waldo Faldo deck.

J.J. & Jeff/Kato-chan and Ken-chan is just as occasionally frustrating as I remember it being, but the soundtrack is even better than I recall. This track always gives me Brubeck vibes.

PRGE weekend is upon us, which means seeing a lot of game prices that will make the idea of selling off some of the collection very tempting.

It never dawned on me until now that Capcom’s Fighters Edge logo was possibly just using some slightly modified clip art.

Even as the console seems to be circling the drain, Microsoft would get an instant purchase of a Series X out of me if they gave it full and region free 360 BC. My 360 imports have been languishing on a shelf since my Japanese 360 died.

Layer Section for Saturn is probably one of the best shooters on the system, and remains affordable even after The Great Saturn Land Rush. Every time I play it, I’m happy I took that guy on AtariAge up on his bundle offer in 2009.

Now that I’m back home, I can safely say that the UK has some of the best availability when it comes to old guy music on CDs in the modern era. I was able to fill in some gaps in my collection relatively affordably, which is nice.

I’m watching this game show in my hotel room. It’s called Tipping Point, and it’s pretty much just a quiz show with a coin pusher element. Honestly, it’s decently compelling in a hotel room kind of way.

I will forever buy Arcade Archives games whenever on sale. Usually it’s a fun exploration of an obscure title. Occasionally it’s bafflement at an arcade game’s control scheme. Looking at you, The Tin Star.

Last night I had a dream that I came across a bootleg Ms Pac Man cabinet that played the intro sample from Groove Is in the Heart when you started a game. Honestly, it was pretty natural fit.

2004: Man, I hope someday I can have a copy of Snatcher. Then I’d be a real collector! 2025: Bootleg SG-1000s? Where are they. I will immediately start walking in their direction. With a Soggy-1000, it is impossible to be a Man of Constant Sorrow.

I’ve never been actively into a trading card game, but this Gundam TCG may pose an active threat to my wallet. If we get new art of obscure characters and suits, I can easily see myself getting hooked.

Beyond psyched about this, this was my first Final Fantasy title, which I think goes a long way in explaining how my tastes in games developed. Seriously though, it’s terrific.

This Indian restaurant I just ordered from has YouTube auto playing dance numbers from various Bollywood movies, and honestly I’ve never been more okay with waiting for a take out order. This rules.

By and large, Napoleon Dynamite holds up remarkably well.

Genuinely psyched to have found a copy of Gorby’s Pipeline (Gorby no Pipeline Daisakusen) for Famicom at a reasonable price. It’s probably one of the only Pipe Dream type games I actually enjoy. Now to find the Game Gear version.

Picked up the G Fans Lawson diorama. It’s really well done, and it’s nice to have a diorama that isn’t a showroom or parking garage. Once I figure out some secondary lighting. I’ll add some more scenery to complete the space.

The great things about antique malls is how you can find a really cool set of drinking glasses, and then be completely blindsided by a Billy Ray Cyrus commemorative 18 Wheeler.

I’ve been trying my hand at some die cast weathering lately. It’s been fun, especially since the fact that you’re only spending $1.19 to experiment with making a car look old encourages trying out new ideas. 85 Pathfinders are not meant to look pristine, which adds to the fun.
