The MSX port of hang on is one of my favorite looking cartridges ever, the red on red is gorgeous. Don’t let that Pony Canyon logo fool you, it’s actually a solid take on the the game. (Further info in alt text!)

The Tomodachi Life demo is great. The lack of online is a bummer, but this is exactly the kind of game I love. Weird Nintendo is the best Nintendo.

I posted recently about how I missed what instagram used to be, and how much fun it was to just talk about odd pieces I had in my collection. Using the powers of alt text, I imagine I could recreate the same kind of post on here. I may even repurpose some old pictures to enjoy the 2010s filtering.

I haven’t used instagram in years, and I genuinely miss it sometimes. Around 2013 or so there was this small niche of people who liked old games and would post items in their collections. It was far less flexing than it was a bunch of people showing their favorite oddities.

An import store at the mall had this Raspberry Pepsi Zero Sugar that was surprisingly great. The raspberry flavor matches with cola nicely and isn’t overpowering (or unsettling like last year’s Coke with orange). Check it out if you encounter it, or are in China.

Also, having just returned from Magfest with my old 3DS in tow, I can safely say that StreetPass is my most missed of all the discontinued Nintendo software. I managed a few hundred over the past few days!

I hadn’t been to Magfest since 2020, and I’m glad I attended this year. Seeing friends you haven’t seen in person in forever and having them exclaim excitement while hugging before you can even react is a great feeling. I’ve had the fortune of meeting some really great people.

I picked up an Atari 7800+ new for $50 shipped, and while I know it’s effectively a specialized emulation box, I’m having a great time breaking out some of my favorite VCS titles from storage. HDMI out eliminates 90% of the setup headaches caused by RF output.

If you like the PlayStation, chronogaming, Japanese obscurities, or all three, you owe it to yourself to check this out. It’s terrific, and why I’m actively on the hunt for two somewhat obscure mahjong titles.

Goodwill may not be what it once was, but for $2 I’m about to quintuple the versions of Culture Beat’s Mr. Vain that I’m currently familiar with. Over 26 minutes of knowing not only what Mr. Vain knows (what he wants), but also when he wants it (now).

Something I love about music is how it can personally develop a tie to a certain time or place. Usually this is tied to memory. However, sometimes an artist is just tied to a time of year. When winter finally sets in, I find myself listening to Squeeze more. It also helps that I like black coffee.

J.J. & Jeff/Kato-chan and Ken-chan is just as occasionally frustrating as I remember it being, but the soundtrack is even better than I recall. This track always gives me Brubeck vibes.
